Disciples of Verity stand for working women in video for “I am I”

The five-piece fronted by Living Colour’s Corey Glover will drop their debut album next year.

Disciples of Verity have shared a video for “I am I,” a powerful new track from their album Pragmatic Sanction.

The video is set at a Disciples of Verity show in a small venue, but centers on various women working there, from an exotic dancer to the bartender and door girl, and the mistreatment that they face from the venue’s owner.

“My hat goes off to the folks doing all that hard work to make this video. The director and the crew did a great job,” frontman Corey Glover—also known as the frontman of Living Colour—said in a statement. “The story they told was one of struggle and overcoming a system that more often than not, puts people (women) in financial and physical danger. I am proud of everyone who was involved in telling this story.”

Besides Glover, Disciples of Verity is made up of bassist George Pond (formerly of Negative Sky), drummer Corey Pierce (formerly of God Forbid), plus guitarists Mark Monjoy (Sekond Skyn) and Danny Puma (Negative Sky).

“I Am I” is taken from Disciples of Verity’s upcoming debut Pragmatic Sanction, which is due for release in 2021. Watch the video now:
