Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato has released “Deep Set,” a track from his upcoming solo debut album.
Puciato turns up the oily charisma for the gritty “Deep Set,” which arrived with an eerie, monochromatic video that the singer directed himself. A figure in a clown mask walks down a highway late at night, holding placards with key phrases from the song’s lyrics.
Puciato’s solo debut album is titled Child Soldier: Creator of God, and will be released later this year on his own Federal Prisoner label. It comes two years after Puciato’s last release, the album Infinite Games by his electronic supergroup The Black Queen, and three years since Dillinger Escape Plan disbanded.
“Deep Set” is the second single from Child Soldier, following “Fire for Water.” Puciato played all instruments save drums on the 15-track album, which was produced by Nick Rowe. Various drummers contributed to the record: On “Deep Set,” Puciato is backed by Poison the Well’s Chris Hornbrook. Others on Child Soldier include Converge’s Ben Koller and longtime Dillinger Escape Plan sticksman Chris Pennie.
There is no specific release date for Child Soldier, though BrooklynVegan says it’s due out in the summer. Watch the video for “Deep Set” below:
