Cartoon black metallers Belzebubs unleash catastrophe in new MV

They attempt to conquer the mountain in the “Cathedrals of Mourning” clip.

Think of Belzebubs as the Gorillaz of metal: They’re a four-piece cartoon black metal band that hail from a webcomic of the same name. Late last week, they released a video for “Cathedrals of Mourning,” from their forthcoming album, Pantheon of the Nightside Gods.

In the animated video, the band rock out on a snow-capped mountain in Norway, their epic riffs triggering an avalanche and massive snow boulder which threatens to lay waste to a ski resort below.

JP Ahonen, who created the band and its webcomic three years ago, described the series as “a trve kvlt documentary revolving around two main themes: the daily lives of your average occult family—Sløth, Lucyfer, Lilith and Leviathan—and the sluggish evolution of Sløth’s black metal band, featuring Obesyx and Hubbath.”
