Carcass have shared new single “The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue” from their upcoming EP Despicable.
The track, which arrived with a live performance music video framed in gory detail, is a frantic and expansive release from the veteran English band.
It also serves as a preview to the four-track Despicable EP, which will be Carcass’ first studio release in seven years. The band were set to follow-up their 2013 record Surgical Steel with a full-length this year, but the COVID-19 pandemic changed their release plans.
“The COVID situation has put the release of the new Carcass album on the back burner for the time being,” bassist Jeff Walker explained in a statement. “Given that we said there’d be new music in August, we thought it would be cool to have a stopgap release and let you hear some of the tracks that never quite made the cut. Don’t say we never give you anything. Enjoy.”
Despicable, which will also include their 2019 track “Under the Scalpel Blade,” is locked in for release on October 30 via Nuclear Blast.
