Frequent collaborators Boris and Merzbow have announced their new joint album 2R0I2P0 with the release of opening track “Away From You.”

The ten-track record is the latest in a long-running, fruitful creative relationship between the experimental trio and noisemaker Masami Akita. 2R0I2P0 comes four years since their last joint record, Gensho. It will also be Boris’ second full-length release this year, following No, which dropped in July.

2R0I2P0 means “2020 RIP,” or “rest in peace.” Boris said in a statement, “This year was a period of trial for everyone in the world. This work becomes a monument to the requiem of the previous era. From here, a new world begins again.”
