Architects bemoan “Modern Misery”

Ahead of their new album, Holy Hell, dropping next week, Architects have put out a striking video for the track “Modern Misery.”

Many musicians have released songs and videos expressing anxiety about our wired world. But what sets this Architects video apart are the real visual stakes they assign to our modern maladies, namely obsession with technology and suffocating work culture. A man with his eyes glued to his phone only notices his friend dying when he feels the blood spatter, while unfriendly camera operators train their lenses on frontman Sam Carter instead of helping him with the arrow in his chest.
