It’s been three years since Abbath’s self-titled debut—and four since its frontman was ousted from pioneering death metal group Immortal—but the band have returned with new music. Late last week, they released “Harvest Pyre,” the first glimpse of their forthcoming sophomore record, Outstrider.
The thrilling track arrived with a black-and-white video featuring the band, decked out in black leather and corpse paint, performing in a frigid forest as a wood structure burns behind them. Abbath himself wields an intimidating axe to complete the menacing look.
“Harvest Pyre” is one of the eight original tracks on Outstrider (it also includes a cover of Bathory’s “Pace Till Death”). The album arrives July 5 on Season of Mist.
