A jazzy, horn-filled cover of a grunge classic? Trombone Shorty pulled it off when they took on Nirvana’s “In Bloom”—with Dave Grohl on the kit, no less.
The former Nirvana drummer dropped by Trombone Shorty’s very own Voodoo Threauxdown festival in Los Angeles last week, providing the explosive heft for the NOLA musician and his band to pump out those well-loved riffs—but on trombone and saxophone. And to no one’s surprise, they sound amazing.

There are many great Nirvana covers out there, but this one is undoubtedly special. For one, it’s the second time Grohl has performed “In Bloom” live since Nirvana disbanded in 1994 following Kurt Cobain’s death, as Alternative Nation points out.
