Watch Thundercat perform “Black Qualls” on ‘Kimmel’

Featuring Flying Lotus, Steve Lacy and Steve Arrington.

Thundercat—real name Stephen Bruner—recently performed “Black Qualls” on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The bassist recruited collaborators Flying Lotus, Steve Lacy and Steve Arrington for the funky performance. They laid down groovy old-school melodies that got the audience to their feet. At the end of their performance, the musicians also segued into Mac Miller’s 2018 song “What’s the Use?” as a homage to the late rapper.

“Black Qualls” appears on Thundercat’s forthcoming album, It is What it is, alongside “Dragonball Durag.” The record arrives April 3 via Brainfeeder.
