Jon Batiste has shared a joyful music video for “I Need You,” the swinging new single from his upcoming album We Are.

The accompanying music video, directed by Alan Ferguson places Batiste and a love interest in an art gallery, where antique photographs on the walls suddenly come alive. The dancers depicted in those images spring through time into the present-day, turning the gallery into a vibrant dancefloor.

“This video wouldn’t have been possible without the mastery of Jemel McWilliams choreography and the direction of the great Alan Ferguson,” Batiste shared on Instagram. “To take the Lindy Hop & Jitterbug styles of dance-developed by the black community in Harlem in the 1920s and 1930s-and create something so brand new with it…WOW.”

Due in March, We Are was introduced with the anthemic title track back in June last year. Aside from working on his new album, Batiste recently composed for and scored the 2020 Pixar film Soul. Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross also helped compose the score, while Batiste served as a primary inspiration for the animated musical sequences.

We Are will be released on March 19. Watch the video for “I Need You” here:
