Watch Harry Connick Jr perform “Mind If I Make Love to You” live

His take on the Cole Porter composition popularized by Frank Sinatra.

Last Friday, Harry Connick Jr performed the Cole Porter composition “Mind If I Make Love to You” live on Good Morning America. The GMA appearance coincided with the release of his new album of Porter renditions, True Love: A Celebration of Cole Porter.

The multi-hyphenate performer sang the Porter classic—which the composer originally wrote for Frank Sinatra in the 1956 film High Society—backed by a band with horn and string sections.

“Mind If I Make Love to You” is one of 13 Porter compositions Connick Jr took on for his new album, True Love: A Celebration of Cole Porter, which also arrived on Friday as his first release on Verve Records. The record follows his 2015 album, That Would Be Me.

“This is the first time I’ve taken a deep dive into another artist’s repertoire, and Cole Porter was my #1 choice for the project,” Connick Jr said in a statement. “His lyrics are witty and nuanced and he takes risks as a composer that I find appealing.”
