Watch Cécile McLorin Salvant’s stunning ‘Tiny Desk’ concert

The jazz vocalist serenaded NPR with pianist Sullivan Fortner.

Cécile McLorin Salvant dropped by NPR recently to perform a four-song set at the Tiny Desk.

Accompanied by Sullivan Fortner on the piano—with whom she will soon release a new album, The Window—Salvant performed three songs from her 2015 album For One to Love, and closed with a folk song, “Omie Wise.”

“I don’t know if it’s the Tiny Desk, or that I can see all your faces in the daylight, but I have not been this nervous in a while,” she admitted to the audience. “It’s kind of great, though. I love it.”

And great it was—the simple, stripped-down set-up really allowed Salvant’s powerful, versatile voice to fill the space. Bask in her Tiny Desk concert here:
