Thundercat drops “Dragonball Durag” video with HAIM, Kali Uchis

“The durag is a superpower, to turn your swag on.”

Thundercat has released a characteristically odd video for his single “Dragonball Durag.”

The video, which was directed by comedian and rapper Zack Fox, centers on the jazz bassist’s newfound confidence after wearing the titular durag, which he channels into creepy yet goofy attempts to seduce several women. They include comedian and actress Quinta Brunson and musicians Kali Uchis and HAIM.

“The durag is a superpower, to turn your swag on… it does something, it changes you,” Thundercat said in a statement. “If you have one in the wardrobe, think about wearing it tonight, it may pop off because you never know what’s going to happen.”

“Dragonball Durag” is the second single from Thundercat’s upcoming album, It is What it is, following “Black Qualls.” The album—which was co-produced by Flying Lotus—is out April 3 via the producer’s label, Brainfeeder.
