Snarky Puppy release new album, ‘Immigrance’

The highly anticipated record is out now.

Three years on from the Grammy award-winning Culcha Vulcha, Snarky Puppy are back with a new record, Immigrance.

Led by impressive singles “Xavi” and “Bad Kids to the Back,” Immigrance is an almost hour-long collection of sprawling, dynamic jazz fusion. It was recorded at the same studio as Culcha Vulcha—namely, Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo, Texas, which is just a five-minute walk from the US-Mexico border.

In a statement, bandleader and bassist Michael League acknowledged the political undertones of the record’s title, and supplied more context about the album: “The idea here is that everything is fluid, that everything is always moving and that we’re all in a constant state of immigration.”
