Last week, a new seven-track compilation, Untitled, was released in tribute to influential American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.

The genre-hopping collection spans jazz, electronic, dub, ambient and more. It notably features “No Gangster,” a collaboration between Shabaka Hutchings (Sons of Kemet, The Comet is Coming) and Kojey Radical, as well as “Scratch & Erase,” a track by Nubya Garcia (Maisha, Nérija), Joe Armon-Jones (Ezra Collective) and Mala.

Untitled was released by The Vinyl Factory, Lonely Table and the DJ Anja Ngozi, with support from the Arts Council England. The release of the compilation was tied to the Barbican Centre exhibition Basquiat: Boom for Real, the first large-scale exhibition of the artist’s work in the United Kingdom, held between 2017 and 2018. Many of the featured musicians attended the exhibition and were then asked to collaborate on songs responding to his legacy.
