See Sting, Questlove, Carole King in trailer for Herb Alpert documentary

‘Herb Alpert is…’ arrives in October.

A trailer has been released for Herb Alpert is…, an upcoming documentary about the legendary trumpeter.

The documentary aims to comprehensively tell the story of Alpert and his career, which spans 14 platinum-certified albums, 15 gold-selling records and nine Grammy Awards from 1966.

Herb Alpert is… was directed by John Scheinfeld, who has helmed films about John Coltrane and John Lennon, and features testimonials from the likes of Sting, Questlove, Quincy Jones and Burt Bacharach.

“Herb is a true artist who did things the right way, achieved success on his own terms, and brought much joy to the world in the process,” Scheinfeld said in a statement. “I wanted to make a documentary that would reflect this and, most importantly, to be a feel-good film that will uplift, inspire, and bring audiences together exactly as does Herb’s music.”

Music aside, Alpert also found international success as a sculptor and painter of abstract impressionist works. The trumpeter also continues to work with his wife, Lani Hall, on the Herb Alpert Foundation to underpin key environmental conservation efforts alongside youth and arts education.

Fans can watch the premiere of Herb Alpert is… via Facebook Live on October 1, after which Alpert will participate in a live discussion. The film—and a 63-song box set and coffee table book—will be released proper the day after.
