London septet Nérija have released “Riverfest,” the first single of their forthcoming debut album, Blume. The group stepped out with an eponymous EP in 2016, and signed to Domino in February this year.

The septet includes prolific players who—as is par for the course in the London scene—are engaged in plenty of other musical endeavors. Tenor saxophonist Nubya Garcia is also a member of Maisha, who released their debut album last year, while alto saxophonist Cassie Kinoshi leads SEED Ensemble, who debuted with Driftglass in February. Nérija guitarist Shirley Tetteh—whose shining guitar lines illuminate “Riverfest”—is bandmates with both Garcia and Kinoshi in those ensembles, and trombonist Rosie Turton also dropped an EP in January.

All that is to say there’s no shortage of young, vibrant talent in Nérija. That much is also evident from “Riverfest,” a joyous, free-flowing track that you’ll want to bask in indefinitely.

Blume arrives August 2 via Domino. Stream “Riverfest,” and a shorter edit of the track, below:
