Listen to Thundercat’s anime-inspired song, “Dragonball Durag”

His new album, ‘It is What it is’, comes out in April.

Jazz bassist Thundercat—aka Stephen Bruner—has released the new single, “Dragonball Durag.”

The tongue-in-cheek song combines the musician’s “love of humor in music” and his fondness for the classic Japanese anime Dragon Ball Z, he said in a press statement. “I have a Dragon Ball tattoo… It runs everything. There is a saying that Dragon Ball is life,” he said in a press statement.

“The durag is a superpower, to turn your swag on,” he added. “It does something, it changes you. If you have one in the wardrobe, think about wearing it tonight, and it may pop off because you never know what’s going to happen.”

Last month, Thundercat released the song “Black Qualls,” featuring Steve Arrington and The Internet’s Steve Lacy. Both that song and “Dragonball Durag” appear on Bruner’s forthcoming album, It is What it is, due out April 3 via Brainfeeder.
