London jazz/Afrobeat group KOKOROKO have shared their second single for the year, “Baba Ayoola.”
The track keeps up an persistent, infectious groove across its four-minute lifespan, the brass section coming in and out in dynamic waves. “Baba Ayoola” was created as a tribute to alto saxophonist Cassie Kinoshi’s grandfather and is a designated “invitation to celebrate life,” according to a statement from the band.
Since dropping their debut self-titled EP last year, KOKOROKO have shared just one song: February’s standalone single “Carry Me Home.” On Instagram, the group recently teased that the recording sessions for their first-ever studio album were well and truly underway, though no official details have been shared just yet.
