Listen to a new posthumous John Coltrane album, ‘Blue World’

    Originally recorded in 1964 for the film ‘Le Chat dans le Sac.’

    John Coltrane’s label Impulse! Records has unveiled Blue World, a posthumous album of previously unheard recordings from the jazz legend.

    The eight-track LP features songs Coltrane originally recorded for Gilles Groulx’s 1964 film Le Chat dans le Sac—his only soundtrack work. The full-length features the previously unheard “Blue World,” alongside fresh takes of “Naima” (from Coltrane’s 1960 masterpiece Giant Steps), “Village Blues” (from 1961’s Coltrane Jazz) and “Traneing in” (from 1958’s John Coltrane With the Red Garland Trio).

    Blue World is the latest LP of posthumous Coltrane material, following last year’s Both Directions at Once: The Lost Album. Stream the new album here:
