Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe releases new album

‘Gnomes & Badgers’ is an album about dialogue and communication.

Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe has released Gnomes & Badgers, Denson’s first new album in five years.

The 11-track album is “about the relationships of people and how we communicate with each other,” he told the Orlando Weekly. “It’s necessary right now with all that’s going in the country and the world … we need to talk a little bit more and listen a little bit better.” The record’s title is a metaphor for the USA’s two-party system, with the gnomes representing the right and the badgers the left—though Denson notes that “they could be either one.”

Besides the multi-instrumentalist’s six-man backing band, Gnomes & Badgers also features the contributions of guest musicians like Texas singer-songwriter Lukas Nelson and Rolling Stones keyboardist Chuck Leavell.
