José James shares new double live album recorded in New York City

Two sets from NYC’s Levon Helm Studios and Le Poisson Rouge.

José James has shared his highly anticipated first live album, José James: New York 2020 (Live).

The album documents two live sets recorded at New York City’s Levon Helm Studios and Le Poisson Rouge in October and August, respectively. It includes recordings of songs such as “Come to My Door,” “Blackmagic” and “Turn Me Up.”

James was backed by an ensemble of stellar musicians on the record: Taali (vocals), J Hoard (vocals), Big Yuki (piano, Fender Rhodes piano, Hammond B-3 organ, synths), Marcus Machado (guitar), Ben Williams (bass, vocals) and Jharis Yokely (drums).

“Featuring the almighty all-stars Ben Williams, Marcus Machado, Big Yuki, Jharis Yokley, Taali + J Hoard this is one of my finest bands captured across two concerts in New York,” said James in a Facebook post.

Last March, James released No Beginning No End 2, the sequel to his 2013 album No Beginning No End. The 12-track record featured an esteemed list of collaborators in the form of Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Aloe Blacc and Ledisi. More recently, he released a tenth anniversary edition of his 2010 album, Blackmagic.
