Jazz pianist Jon Batiste has released a new live album, Chronology of a Dream: Live at the Village Vanguard.

The nine-track record features mostly original compositions by the The Late Show with Stephen Colbert bandleader, with the exception of “Soulful,” a composition by the late jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove. The full-length was recorded during Batiste’s six-night residency in November 2018 at the Village Vanguard in Greenwich Village, New York City.

“My compositions on ‘Chronology of a Dream’ focus on thematic development within short form structures with memorable melodic themes,” Batiste wrote of the release on Twitter.

Chronology of a Dream: Live at the Village Vanguard is the second live album from Batiste’s Village Vanguard residency, following Anatomy of Angels: Live at the Village Vanguard. Last year, he released the LP Hollywood Africans.
