Jazzmeia Horn has switched gears in promoting her new album Love and Liberation by releasing a cover of Erykah Badu’s “Green Eyes.”

Horn notably allows the introduction of “Green Eyes” to breathe, giving the soft piano progression time to come alive. Badu’s original, which closed her 2000 album Mama’s Gun, carries on for a full ten minutes, but Horn’s version cuts that runtime in half without losing an inch of appeal.

“Green Eyes” is one of four covers on Horn’s upcoming album, Love and Liberation. The record, which also features earlier single “When I Say,” is due out August 23.
