Jacob Collier has dropped a new single from his forthcoming album Djesse: a cover of Lionel Richie’s “All Night Long” featuring a cappella sextet Take 6 and the Metropole Orkest, conducted by Jules Buckley.

The track opens with some studio effects witchery before dropping into an a cappella vocal. Listen out for the African percussion in the form of metal drums and djembes, alongside upright bass and whistles.

Take 6’s vocal accompaniment is a joy, as are the accented funk guitar and string section. There’s also jazzy saxophone, and a cheeky, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it nod to Michael Jackson. All this happens before a characteristically brilliant piano solo.

The first volume of Djesse, which also includes “With the Love in My Heart,” is out this Friday. He’ll also be touring from January through March 2019. See the full list of tour dates via Collier’s website.
