Leeds outfit The Sorcerers have released two new songs from their upcoming album, In Search of the Lost City of the Monkey God.

“People of the Forest” and “Shamanic Brew” are an enticing preview of the record, which the Ethio jazz group began working on in the winter of 2018. The title In Search of the Lost City of the Monkey God was cribbed from a National Geographic article, and served as a starting point for the LP, The Sorcerers note in a statement on Bandcamp.

The album, the band explain, was deliberately written as a cinematic experience. It aims to “conjure up images of the unforgiving environment of the dense jungle, unknown eyes watching the protagonists of the imagined film as they make their way towards their ultimate goal, their pursuit by unseen assailants, the arcane mysticism of undiscovered cargo cultists and the ancient ruins of long passed civilisations.”

In Search of the Lost City of the Monkey God is out January 24. It follows The Sorcerers’ self-titled debut album which they released in September 2019.
