Here’s a release for all the jazz-loving Grinches out there: A surprise Christmas project from London group Ill Considered.
Recorded in a day at Hoxa HQ in London, An Ill Considered Christmas isn’t your typical collection of peppy, jangly festive tunes.
“Dark, melancholy, aggressive, raging and subdued—An Ill Considered Christmas captures these essential festive feelings, weaving thorny, angular, unforgiving structures and stretching the helpless, protesting forms of infamous Christmas songs over them, creating a unique collection of Yuletide Chimeras,” reads the album’s accompanying write-up.
This 12-track album follows four other 2018 releases from the prolific, improvisatory quartet—three of them live recordings.
