Go on a ‘Jungle Run’ with Nubiyan Twist

The record features two legends of African music, Tony Allen and Mulatu Astatke.

Leeds-born, London-based ten-piece Nubiyan Twist have released their sophomore album, Jungle Run.

Coming four years after Nubiyan Twist’s well-received debut, the energetic record is marked by an enthusiasm for collaboration. Besides friend and collaborator KOG, Jungle Run also features guest appearances by Afrobeat pioneer Tony Allen (“Ghosts”) and Ethiopian jazz luminary Mulatu Astatke (the appropriately named “Addis to London”).

“Conceptually, Jungle Run is all about connecting different people and cultures whilst exploring the journey of individuals,” producer and orchestrator Tom Excell explained in a statement. “This album is the pinnacle of everything we have done to date, and to collaborate with the godfathers of Afrobeat and Ethio jazz and celebrate their music in a modern context was very humbling.”
