Invisible City Editions is reissuing Jeff Majors’ For Us All (Yoka Boka) on vinyl for the first time ever.
Released in 1986, For Us All (Yoka Boka) was inspired by a trip the harpist took to Gambia, and includes breathtaking originals as well as covers and arrangements of The Beatles and Gershwin. The Toronto label describes this private-press spiritual jazz LP as “highly sought after and impossibly rare.”
Majors studied the harp under Alice Coltrane as a teenager. He later joined Sun Ra acolyte Brother Ah’s ensemble The Sounds of Awareness, and played on their record Key to Nowhere. He became more well known, however, for his work in gospel music as a radio programmer and recording artist.
The reissue, which features new artwork from Tom Henry and a booklet containing a detailed new interview with Majors, ships late December/early January. Pre-order it here, and preview the LP below:
