Fazer dazzle with polyrhythms on “Wasi”

From the Munich group’s sophomore album, ‘Nadi,’ out next month.

German jazz outfit Fazer dropped their debut album, Mara, just last year, but they’re clearly keen to keep up the momentum. Next month, they will unleash the follow-up, Nadi, which will feature this new song, “Wasi.”

The track is a four-minute exercise in beguiling polyrhythmic percussion (thanks to the Munich group’s two drummers), with murmuring guitar and mournful horns standing as a muted counterweight. “Wasi” is anything but noisy, but its complexity speaks volumes.
