Last Friday, London keyboardist Elliot Galvin released his new album, Modern Times.
Double bassist Tom McCredie and drummer Corrie Dick support Galvin on the ten-track record, which was mixed live and recorded direct to vinyl at Artone Studio in the Netherlands. Each side of the LP was recorded in one continuous take.
Before recording Modern Times, Galvin had spent some time working with electronic instruments and disengaged from making acoustic music. “Then I saw a solo piano concert by Jason Moran when I was in Montreux and I was so inspired,” he said in a statement. “It was so immediate and human. I wanted to make a record like this.”
