Jazz/hip hop supergroup Dinner Party have released a music video for the remix of “Freeze Tag” featuring Cordae, Phoelix and Snoop Dogg.
The video, which was co-directed by the group and Elliott Sellers, takes the viewers through a buzzing neighborhood, where kids shoot hoops and neighbors bond over a cookout. But things take a bad turn, and the video metaphorically demonstrates how violence can turn a community upside down.
“Freeze Tag” was the first song released by Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin and 9th Wonder under the Dinner Party banner. It was part of the self-titled album released in July, which then received a remix treatment earlier this month as the collection Dinner Party: Dessert.
While promoting the new video, Martin—who also cameos in the clip—urged Americans to make their voices heard in the upcoming election. “Sending love & blessings to everyone. Be apart [sic[ of change and VOTE,” he wrote on Instagram.
