Chick Corea, Christian McBride, Brian Blade release ‘Trilogy 2’

The follow-up to the original ‘Trilogy’ released in 2013.

Chick Corea and fellow jazz greats Christian McBride and Brian Blade have released their new live album, Trilogy 2.

On the record, the band perform “500 Miles High,” first released with Corea’s group Return to Forever in 1973, as well as the standard “How Deep is the Ocean?,” reprised from the group’s 2013 original Trilogy.

Corea and the musicians also cover Thelonious Monk’s “Crepuscule with Nellie” and Stevie Wonder’s “Pastime Paradise” on the LP. Other tributes include Jimmy Van Heusen’s “But Beautiful,” Steve Swallow’s “Eiderdown,” and Kenny Dorham’s “Lotus Blossom.”

Trilogy 2 is the trio’s sequel to the previously released Trilogy in 2013. Earlier in June, Corea released the joint album Antidote with his Spanish Heart Band.
