Brownswood Recordings spotlight South Africa on new comp

‘Indaba is’ was curated by Thandi Ntuli and The Brother Moves On’s Siyabonga Mthembu.

Brownswood Recordings has announced the new compilation album Indaba is, which will celebrate South African improvised music and jazz.

The record was curated by creative directors Thandi Ntuli and The Brothers Moves On’s Siyabonga Mthembu, both of whom also contribute songs to its tracklist. Other artists on the eight-track compilation include The Wretched, Lwanda Gogwana, The Ancestors and Bokani Dyer, whose opening track “Ke Nako” is out now. The entire project was recorded in sessions just outside Johannesburg over five days in late June and early July this year.

Indaba is is the third geographical compilation from Brownswood, following 2019’s Melbourne-centric collection Sunny Side Up and the 2018 London-focused We Out Here.
