Bill Laurance shares new live rendition of “The Pines”

Recorded at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in 2018.

Snarky Puppy pianist Bill Laurance has shared a new version of “The Pines.”

The fresh 11-minute rendition of the track, which originally appeared on Laurance’s 2016 album Aftersun, was recorded live during his 2018 International Piano Trio Festival set at London’s renowned Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. On this version, Laurance is joined by bassist Jon Harvey and drummer Marijus Aleksa.

The live edition of “The Pines” will appear on Laurance’s forthcoming record, Live at Ronnie Scott’s. The LP is dedicated to Laurance’s “first piano teacher” Mel Robinson, whom he thanks for “instilling the joy in music right from the beginning,” according to the album’s Bandcamp page.

Live at Ronnie Scott’s, which also features a new version of fan favorite “Swag Times,” is due out February 14 via Flint Music. Listen to the live version of “The Pines” here:
