Saxophonist Archie Shepp and pianist Jason Moran have released their duo album, Let My People Go.
The pair, who went from friends to collaborators in the span of five years, previewed the record with its opening tracks: traditional African American spiritual “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” and Billy Strahorn and Duke Elllington composition “Isfahan.”
But both songs are just the tip of the iceberg on Let My People Go, which, including bonus tracks, runs 94 minutes long. Their first recording together, the album is a collection of performances dating to 2017 and 2018.
