Last month, English jazz artist Alfa Mist announced a new album, Structuralism. And late last week, he released its second single, “Mulago.”
The four-minute track begins with Mist’s piano chords before a snippet of dialogue (spoken by Mist’s sister, he revealed on Instagram) comes into the picture. Trumpeter Johnny Woodham, drummer Jamie Houghton and bassist James Creswick then help Mist paint a wistful picture that teases a change in mood before it fades away.
Structuralism, Alfa Mist’s sophomore album, is due out April 26 on Sekito. Listen to “Mulago” here:
