YoungBoy Never Broke Again reworks Jay-Z’s “The Story of OJ”

A cool take on the ‘4:44’ cut.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again has put his own spin on Jay-Z’s “The Story of OJ,” a track from the rap veteran’s 2017 album 4:44.

Over the moody beat produced by Jay-Z and No ID, YoungBoy declares he’s “one of the greatest to ever do it,” before name-dropping Lil Wayne’s 21-year-old daughter Reginae Carter. “The shit ain’t Fugazi, I’m tryna convince Fee to tell Reginae / How big the shit gon’ be if we have a baby, but I’m serious though,” he spits.

Elsewhere, the rapper raps about “new age slavery,” his wealth (“I’m 20 clockin’ over ten million”) and the dangers of living as a Black person in America (“I grew up got the police on my trail”).

YoungBoy was arrested on several drug and firearms charges last month. According to his attorney, the rapper, real name Kentrell Gaulden, is “innocent” and “did not possess any firearms nor did he possess any controlled dangerous substances” when he was arrested.

“Mr Gaulden is innocent of the charges he was booked on [September 28] and looks forward to defending himself as such,” his attorney added.

Prior to his arrest, YoungBoy released his sophomore studio album, Top.
