YNW Melly drops “Mama Cry” MV after arrest and murder charges

If proven guilty, he faces life imprisonment or the death penalty.

YNW Melly has released a video for “Mama Cry,” just days after he was arrested and charged for the double-murder of two fellow YNW crew members.

In the clip, which seems to foreshadow Melly’s current predicament, the rapper tries to comfort his mother while behind bars. “Tears off of your face, I’m sorry / I won’t right my wrongs, I’m guilty / Lord have mercy, please forgive me / Mama please don’t you cry, I’m sorry,” he sings.

YNW Melly—real name Jamell Demons—posted on Instagram declaring his innocence before turning himself into the police on February 13. “A couple months ago I lost my two brothers by violence and now the system want[s] to find justice,” he wrote. “Unfortunately a lot of rumors and lies are being said, but no worries, God is with me and my brother [YNW Bortlen].”

Demons and Bortlen (real name Cortlen Henry) are currently being charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of fellow crew members YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy. Both currently remain in jail, and are being held without bond.
