YG and Mozzy have released their new joint project, Kommunity Service.
The two California natives joined forces with the likes of G Herbo, Young MA, Ty Dolla $ign, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Tyga and more for the effort. Last Friday, they also dropped off a video for opening track “Gangsta,” which is built around a sample of 50 Cent’s 2002 hit, “Wanksta.”
The familiar jingling beat provides a backdrop for the duo’s menacing bars. “You say you affiliated but you never caught one / It’s body counts around this bitch and you ain’t got one,” Mozzy raps. “I put on for the section, it ain’t no second guessing / Could’ve lost my life in these trenches, was given second chances.”
The accompanying clip, directed by Karl Jungquist, captures the two rappers in the middle of a heist. Mozzy and YG, flanked by their co-conspirators and money-counting models, raid a wealthy enemy’s home while holding him hostage. The clip is the third visual to emerge from Kommunity Service, following “Bompton to Oak Park” and “Perfect Timing” with Blxst.
Kommunity Service marks YG’s follow-up to 2020’s My Life 4Hunnid. The 31-year-old has been spending time on his 4Hunnid artist roster, releasing the record label’s first compilation mixtape, Gang Affiliated, earlier this year.
As for Mozzy, Kommunity Service follows his 2020 albums Occupational Hazard and Beyond Bulletproof.
