XXXTentacion may be dead, but the drama around him never ceases.

The rapper’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard, has sued his half-sister, Ariana Onfroy, for defamation per se, libel and slander. The complaint asks for more than $15,000 in damages over Onfroy’s comments that implied Bernard orchestrated the death of her own son.

Tarpley Hitt—who was one of the few to score a face-to-face interview with XXXTentacion before his death—of The Daily Beast reported that the case, which Bernard filed last month, pertains to an interview that Onfroy gave to The Sun in September, where she claimed that the rapper’s killing was “an inside job.”

Although Onfroy did not name names in the interview, the complaint alleges that some of her comments were made in reference to Bernard. The interview contains comments that, taken together, the complaint argues, “negligently and disgracefully convey to the readership that [Bernard] was at least partly responsible for the killing of her son.”

The news comes just before the release of XXXTentacion’s posthumous album, Skins. Read the full report in The Daily Beast here.
