Wiz Khalifa’s 2009 song “The Thrill” hits streaming platforms

The track first appeared on Wiz’s mixtape, ‘Burn After Rolling.’

Wiz Khalifa’s 2009 hit “The Thrill” has finally made it to streaming services.

The song, which samples Australian band Empire of the Sun’s “Walking on a Dream,” first appeared on Wiz’s 2009 mixtape, Burn After Rolling. The song’s digital release—which was delayed likely due to sample clearance issues—can now be streamed on Spotify, Apple Music and others.

Speaking about the track’s significance, Wiz said in a press release: “‘The Thrill’ is a really special song to me because I seen that one grow from the ground up. I remember being at a low key show at a college and one of the kids told me about the song and he said, ‘Man, you’ll be that dude if you sample the song.’ So, I immediately went home, started thinking of some bars, went to the studio and recorded it.”

“‘Walking On A Dream’ is a song that morphs and transcends so many emotions and musical plains that it’s great to hear it alive in another world, Wiz’s world,” Empire of the Sun added.

Earlier this year, Khalifa released several new mixtapes, including The Saga of Wiz Khalifa (and its deluxe edition), It’s Only Weed Bro and Big Pimpin.
