Will Smith shares sneak peek of upcoming music

The Fresh Prince makes his grand return to hip hop.

The last time Will Smith put out an album was almost 13 years ago. But it’s all ’bout to change now, because the Hollywood multi-hyphenate is serious about getting back into the music game. And he’s just teased a clip of him in the studio.

“It’s 20 years of swag y’all just witnessed / Let me remind everybody who Will Smith is,” the Suicide Squad star raps on a track previewed in the video. It’s a ferocious, old-school hip hop beat that borrows influence from the early noughties, which makes the track feel slightly nostalgic—especially with the current crop of trap music. On it, he also makes references to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, his 2001 film Ali, and shuts down divorce rumors.

“I was doing a television show, a movie and an album every year. So, I was churning out that kinda creativity [every day] and what happens is that you get to a point where you get empty,” Smith explained on social media about his hiatus. “I’m excited. I’m re-energized and creating wildly like I used to. I’m ready.”

Y’know what, we’re ready, too. Listen to the snippet below to expect what’s to come:
