Westside Gunn’s highly anticipated Pray for Paris album is finally here.
The record squeezes a slew of guests into 13 tracks. These include a rare feature from Tyler, the Creator and two appearances from Gunn’s Griselda labelmates Benny the Butcher and Conway the Machine, not to mention the likes of Wale, Joey Bada$$ and Freddie Gibbs.
Pray for Paris also marks Westside’s first collaboration with the legendary DJ Premier. Additional production was handled by Tyler, the Creator, Alchemist, Daringer, DJ Muggs, Jay Versace and more. The album’s cover art was also designed by Louis Vuitton artistic director, Virgil Abloh.
Westside began recording the album in a marathon 48-hour studio session in Paris earlier this year. He had been invited to the city by Abloh for his Off-White fashion show as part of Paris Fashion Week.
“That was the first time I left the country,” Westside told Revolt TV. “I’m front row at all the fashion shows. I had already went to all the fashion shows by the time I started recording. I had all of that energy in me… I took that energy, had a few more days left and was like, ‘Yo, I’m going to do a project.’”
