Travis Scott’s performance at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards took audiences on an intergalactic journey, soundtracked by an Astroworld medley.
Scott’s performance kicked off with him rapping behind what appeared to be the controls of a spaceship. He spat several bars off “Stargazing,” before the intro for “Stop Trying to Be God” was teased. Shortly after, James Blake then appeared onstage to sing his part, and then slipped away into the darkness as the thumping beats of “Sicko Mode” kicked in.
For the last song, Scott was backed by a troupe of dynamic dancers, bouncing about to the hard-hitting beat as the rapper slung his rhymes. At the end of it all, he paid tribute to the late Aretha Franklin, and then, of course, touted his #1 album.
