Vince Staples’ mysterious new project drops later this week.

Vince Staples has announced a new project titled The Vince Staples Show with a mysterious trailer.

The clip opens with Staples in a black automobile as he nonchalantly instructs two boys to sell candy outside a Green Mills supermarket. Though the trailer bills The Vince Staples Show as an “all new original series,” fans are still speculating as to whether it’s a television show or a new album.

In a recent interview on the Jemele Hill is Unbothered podcast, Staples spoke of his upcoming release—which might be a visual album: “We’re doing a project called the The Vince Staples Show, and it’s not necessarily an album or anything… What we do is changing everyday as far as putting a piece of yourself into the world—whether it’s music, writing, film.”

The rapper went on to tell host Hill that what people “want from [him] is never music.” He explained, “It’s like every single time I see someone say something about me, is like ‘Oh, I love Vince Staples’ interview,’ or ‘Vince Staples is funny’ or ‘Vince Staples needs a show,’ and it’s not for any other reason—it’s just how we consume content and everything is kind of crossed.”

“We decided to try to figure out a way to create music that had elements of what people wanted,” Staples told Hill.

The Long Beach rapper recently signed with Motown Records earlier in the month. His last project, FM!, was released last year to critical acclaim. The Vince Staples Show will be released August 22.
