Kanye West has released the trailer for Jesus is King, his new documentary that shares a title with his upcoming album.
Jesus is King, directed by Nick Knight, was shot at the Roden Crater, James Turrell’s never-before-seen contemporary art installation located in Arizona’s Painted Desert. As per the video’s description, the documentary is “a one-of-a-kind experience featuring songs arranged by West in the gospel tradition, along with new music from his forthcoming album.”
The trailer gives a glimpse of Turrell’s installation, and is soundtracked by a performance by West’s Sunday Service choir. It ends with a verse from the Bible that reads: “In the words of Jesus Christ, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel.’”
The docu-film premieres worldwide exclusively in IMAX theaters on October 25, the same day West’s Jesus is King album is reportedly due to arrive. The record was initially due for release at the end of September, but was delayed due to last-minute track edits.
