Watch Public Enemy perform “Grid” on ‘Colbert’

The hip hop crew were joined by Cypress Hill and George Clinton.

Public Enemy recently performed their song “Grid” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, alongside featured guests B-Real of Cypress Hill and George Clinton.

With Public Enemy’s DJ Lord helming the decks, Chuck D and Flavor Flav kicked off the energetic performance with their razor-sharp bars, before Clinton and B-Real joined them on stage to deliver their respective verses.

“Communication breakdown, it’s a take down / Are you awake now or consumed by a fake clown? / World Wide Web keep the spiders fed / Looking at my feed, trolls everywhere but knowledge supersedes,” the Cypress Hill rapper rhymed.

Towards the end, they all gathered to chant the commanding chorus: “What you gonna do when the GRID goes down? / The GRID goes down! / The GRID goes down!”

“Grid” is a track from Public Enemy’s recently released album What You Gonna Do When the Grid Goes Down?. The star-studded LP, which also features contributions from Run-DMC, Ice-T and others, is the group’s first full-length since 2017’s Nothing is Quick in the Desert.
