Watch North Carolina MC Morray make his TV debut on ‘Kimmel’

The rapper performed “Quicksand” and “Can’t Use Me” from his new mixtape ‘Street Sermons.’

Morray made his television debut this week on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

The North Carolina newcomer performed a medley of “Quicksand” and “Can’t Use Me” off his recently released debut mixtape, Street Sermons. Morray’s soulful delivery was intensified by the involvement of a live band and a chaotic-looking set, which was staged to look like a fiery car crash.

“Quicksand” proved to be an early hit on Street Sermons, peaking at No. 65 on the Billboard Hot 100. Over production by Hagan and Ant Chamberlain, Morray rhymes about his difficult upbringing. “Back in the day, man a n***a had rip jeans/ Couldn’t afford a new pair, I had broke seams,” he spits. “Clothes falling off my ass, lost weight, dawg / No jacket in the winter, had the shakes, dawg.”

Besides releasing his debut mixtape last month, Morray also recently appeared on fellow North Carolina native J Cole’s new album, The Off-Season. Morray raps alongside 21 Savage on the track, “My Life.”
