Joyner Lucas is back with a tear-jerking video for “Like a River,” featuring Elijah James, from his Evolution album.
On the vulnerable track, Lucas reflects on his turbulent relationship with his father and the duty he feels to not make the same mistakes with his own son. The clip brings Lucas’ words to life, as it follows a young boy who misses doing things with his dad after his father abandons him. James does not appear in the video.
“Used to crave for your attention, but I never got it / And everything you said we’d do is just another promise,” Lucas spits. “End of the day, no excuse for how you played your part / Told myself when I became a father, I’mma raise the bar.”
Besides “Like a River,” Evolution also featured songs with Rick Ross, Ashanti, The Game and Iyla. Watch Lucas’ new video here:
